Announcements January 7 & 8, 2023

Announcements The Episcopal Church of Christ the King and Holy Nativity January 7 & 8, 2023

FUTURE EVENTS IN OUR PARISH:

Jan.  26           Vestry Meeting, CTK Parish House, 9:30 A.M.

A FEW ITEMS FROM YOUR SENIOR WARDEN:

  1. A friendly reminder to please return intention cards.
  2. Please send any comments, suggestions or thoughts about the trialogue to the church office or to me: tgraul@sbcglobal.net
  3. There are many ways we can serve our parish, a few of which are on the sign-up sheets at the back of each church.  Consider being a lay reader, providing flowers for the altar, or joining the altar guild.  It’s a rewarding way to start the new year.
  4. Our parish still needs a treasurer.  Katie LaViolette had to resign because of the unexpected demands of her day job.  The treasurer -the fiscal authority person for the parish – is a required position.  Our very competent administrative assistant does the day to day work: paying the bills, writing the checks, keeping the books and preparing all the reports for the vestry meetings, so the elected treasurer has a primarily supervisory role.

CAP PANTRY UPDATE AND REQUESTS:

Happy New Year! I wish I could say that the need for items at the pantry has decreased, but this is winter in Door County when many in the hospitality industry are stressed because of reduced work hours.

Currently the pantry needs canned soups, canned chili (for individuals who only have a microwave), Hamburger Helper (the pantry has ground beef), tuna, and Tuna Helper. There is also an urgent need for bar soap (I checked at the local wholesaler and they no longer carry that item).  As always, any item you donate will have a grateful recipient. Thank you.

TOYS FOR KIDS 2023:

Thanks to all who donated to Toys for Kids during the holiday season. Our parish raised $500 toward a brighter Christmas for Door County children.

WINTER WORSHIP CANCELLATION:

When winter weather makes worship questionable, the Wardens and the Vicar will make a decision about canceling worship, hopefully early in the process.

If worship is to be cancelled, you will receive the message by e-blast. If there are any questions about whether or not we are having worship, please feel free to call the Vicar.

FORWARD DAY BY DAY BOOKLETS:

Booklets for February/March/April 2023 are available at each church and in the plastic bin outside the church office.

TADYCH’S MARKET (FORMERLY ECONOFOODS):

Please continue to save your grocery receipts for our church. Thank you.

VESTRY MINUTES:

You can view the November 17, 2022 Vestry minutes by visiting our website and click on announcements December 17 & 18, 2022.

GUEST PRIEST NEXT WEEKEND:

The Rev. Dr. John R. Throop has been a priest in the Episcopal Church for 41 years. He served most recently as rector of St. Peters, Sheboygan Falls and continues to live there with his wife, Cindy Ford. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago, the School of Theology at the University of the South (Sewanee), and Fuller Theological Seminary.  Fr. Throop served in a bi-vocational ministry for 17 years, as he was a management consultant and human resources trainer in the corporate and nonprofit sectors.
